Important Updates for the Week of June 13th

Thank you to everyone for a successful Black & Gold Meet! We are looking forward to our first full week of practices, and we wanted to provide an overview of this week's activities/announcements. There are several important announcements, so please read through the items below:

  • Sign-up for Thursday's Park Forest Meet - The sign-up boards will be available Monday through Wednesday during practice for Thursday's home meet against Park Forest. The sign-up deadline is Wednesday at the end of practice (9:45am). This is an important meet, and we want to make sure that all swimmers are signed-up. IMPORTANT: Only swimmers who have registered through CRPR are eligible to participate in the meet.
  • Parent Volunteer Sign-up - Unlike many other sports, swim meets would not be possible without most parents taking an active volunteer role at each event. Our parent volunteers help with getting kids ready to swim, timing events, helping with concessions, and more. Please sign-up to help with the Park Forest meet using the links below. A description of each volunteer position is available on the blog:
  • Show Your Welch Pride with Posters - Our swimmers did a great job last year of making posters/banners to support our team and decorate Welch Pool, and we are going to do it again! Please help your swimmers make posters and bring them to our Wednesday or Thursday practice, so they can be hung prior to the Park Forest meet. Let's show our Welch pride!
  • Drink Donations Due on Tuesday - Each family is asked to donate drinks that are then sold in the concession stand at all home meets. Please label your drinks with your name and drop them off at the pool by Tuesday, June 14. Please provide one donation per swimmer. Refer to the list below for what drink type you should purchase and donate:
    • Last Name: A-H – 12 count (12 oz.) bottle pack of Gatorade
    • Last Name: I-P – 24 bottle case of water
    • Last Name: Q-Z – 24 cans of soda (Diet Coke, Diet Pepsi, Coke, Pepsi, Sprite, Sierra Mist)
  • Sweet Frog Night: Sharks Eat Frogs - We have partnered with Sweet Frog for a fundraising event this Thursday, June 16. Anyone who visits Sweet Frog on Thursday and says they are part of the "Sharks Eat Frogs" fundraiser will help us raise money for the team. 15% of all "Welch Sales" will support our team. A printable flier is available. This is open to anyone, so please invite your family, friends, and neighbors to visit Sweet Frog on Thursday for the "Sharks Eat Frogs" event.
  • Monday/Wednesday Evening Practices for 13+ - Evening practices are available for swimmers ages 13 and over on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 8:00-9:00pm. These practices will begin this Monday (6/13).
  • PSU Nutritionists to Visit Tuesday Practice - We are working with Penn State Athletics to have two nutritionists visit our practices on Tuesday to discuss healthy sport eating habits. They will be meeting with each age group.
  • Tie-Dye on Friday - Swimmers have an opportunity to make a tie-dye t-shirt at practice on Friday. Swimmers can bring a white or all yellow cotton t-shirt to practice. Welch Swim Team will provide all of the additional materials and aftercare instructions.
